Kongthong Honey

This is our first expansion in Meghalaya and feels super surreal. Bringing Kongthong honey to you is a long delightful journey. We source it from Rothel thongsit, a community leader who’s dedication to safeguard the indigenous people of Kongthong village is something we admire deeply. It is also a form of livelihood to the villagers where everyone keep one bee box or more. Unadulterated, raw and straight from the magical village, it is sweet in taste taking you straight to the amazing flowers grown in Kongthong.

Kongthong is also called as whistling village, one of the few villages in the world to still preserve the Indigenous rich heritage of communicating through Whistles.

People of this village have used whistling as a method of conveying their messages to their fellow villagers and that is why it is known as the ‘whistling village’. The villagers here call each other with a unique tune. Each of them has a unique tune for calling each other and this tradition has been going on for generations.
